engine help!

its my other vehicle. actually the only running vehicle i have atm.
1975 dodge d100 with a 5.2 and a 2bbl carb.

the carb is about a year old. i had gotten anew one from rockauto.
when i press the brakes hard or even if i ease into them it shuts off. im having to constantly turn it to nuetral and turn it back on. not sure if its a vacum thing or what.

today i was switching to nuetral whenever i was slowing down and tapping the gas until a green hit. if anyone knows what i can do or if they want to help me in person, id appreciate it.

Re: engine help!

sounds like you have a vacum leak . When you press the brakes you are using more vacum and if you have a leak it would kill the motor . take a can of carb cleaner and spray it around on the intake and around the carb base it will probably die when you find the leak hope this works for you ...

Re: engine help!

its running great now and brakes work great. used carb cleaner and on throttle side i got the engine reving up. but i was unsure if it was base gasket or the 2nd one up. i disassembled carb and noticed that on of the the idle screw tips was also broken. (no wonder it didnt adjust)napa guy gave me one out of one of his old carbs since they didnt carry new ones. it was shorter but worked.

so after the gaskets
