Yes. Or, you could pick up a Chilton book as those usually have detailed steps on how to do it yourself.

For the disc conversion, that's up to you, properly working drum brakes are just fine. Why do you think they used them so long?

Haha very true. Any idea what it would cost for a full brake job?

I'm not sure, we're in the middle of doing mine right now and the back is done and it cost roughly $200. Got the drums turned but we replaced the wheel cylinder, pads, springs etc. Front will probably cost about the same but it will be so much easier since there are less parts.

What do you mean less parts? Because its disc up front and drum in the rear?

Re: HELP! First truck, need to be back on the road

Yes sir. It's a lot less complicated than drum brakes.

If you don't replace the calipers, only push the piston in (using a C clamp) as far as you need to otherwise the rust on the piston could get hung up on the caliper and not come back out. Hopefully that makes sense, I'm not the best at explaining things

Brake jobs usually won't break the bank. And like stated better safe than sorry. There are some idiot drivers out there. Sticky drum brakes are a bad story too
