Re: Sam's Man Cave 66 Project

Got the bottom half of my motor done last night. Main bearings, rod bearings, piston rings, cam bearings (done at the machine shop), new cam, oil pump, & timing set. Now I need to put the top half together after we do the valve job. Almost there!

Re: Sam's Man Cave 66 Project

Finally put the top end together. Still need a little paint, a new harmonic balancer, going to buy new clutch just because, then she'll be all ready to throw back in. Sorry about the crappy pics. Thing is the good camera was only a couple hundred feet away in the sub but I was just too tired to trudge up and get it!

Right now there's not a bit of chrome on this engine except for the oil fill cap. That will be black too soon I figured until I can buy all the fancy chrome i won't just have a piece or two on there. The heads still need paint in the pics above. I was just too pooped to mess with it after I buttoned the engine up.

Thanks kieth, I've not spent nearly the time/effort that you have of course but I think the engine looks pretty good for what it is.

Re: Sam's Man Cave 66 Project

Hey man, you have done all your work, I have a employee who has done most of the work with me supervising, I did some of it but not all. We are getting ready to start a 65 chevy rat rod low rider no paint----body work is chinese water torture, and it takes a lot of time, so we are going to leave this truck with patina=======which means cheap=====6 cylinder 3 speed, discs, ps, pb......recover the seat and see if it will sell..........Kieth

Oh and your truck looks great it will get there.....Kieth

I had one good one (metal) and one was bad, replaced it with a cable from NAPA and is is steel with a rubber outer shield, the rest of my e brake cables were good. I have 2 donor 65 chasis's with the bulkier e brake cables on them, Kieth

Hey Kro, nothing to report! My poor truck has been on the back burner lately. My daughter's birthday was the 10th and I spent my play money on her. Then our renter decided to move out leaving me in a bind so we had to make the tough call and move back in so I'm in the process of doing that for the next week or two. I'm going to be putting my carpenter/painter hat on and do some upgrades before we move back in which is going to leave no time to work on the truck sadly. I'd much rather get sweaty and filthy working on my truck than sweaty and filthy working on my house. Go figure

As to the E-brakes on my truck. I don't have them hooked back up at the moment. I do know the cables are there but there was some impediment in installing them when I rebuilt the brakes in the back...I just can't remember what it was! I haven't had my coffee yet this morning so that could be why

It's frustrating as I'm only a couple hundred bucks and a few hours work from getting this puppy road worthy! I'm just hoping that the silly season doesn't push out completion even further. I have 3 females in the house though and they expect to be showered with gifts so I dunno how that's going to work out for me. At the very least I can put all my truck parts on my xmas wish list
