"Best $ I ever spent" ?

I've heard this statement several times refering to modifications owners have made to their trucks/cars... It's always different depending on who you're talking to... So... I'm curious... What's the best Money you ever spent on your truck?

Makes no difference to me if it cost under a dollar or over a thousand... I'm just inquisitive...

Re: "Best $ I ever spent" ?

Adding a front sway bar is one of the biggest "bangs for your buck",... that I can recommend.
(even though,... adding power steering to a manual steering truck, is even nicer!)

Re: "Best $ I ever spent" ?

I'd say probably my steelies and caps. I held off on it because what I had worked fine, and I figured it would cost way too much to do anything right now.

As I looked in to it further, I was able to restore and paint some steelies from the junk yard, and then got a good deal on some hubcaps. It made a big difference in the look and it also improved the handling. All that for about $140

How about the money I just spent to put 17.5 gallons of the cheap gas in my truck!

Well at this time it would be my wheels and tires, I think they really made my truck.

I look at that as $62.00 to drive about 200 miles if you are getting around 12 mpg. In my eyes, that is money well spent. No fun sitting in the driveway.

Re: "Best $ I ever spent" ?

My steel wheels and baby moons. Cost was about $150 with mounting and balancing. Completely changed the look of the truck.

Re: "Best $ I ever spent" ?

Maybe it comes with age, maybe not. I appreciate the guys out there that are making upgrades that improve performance and handling but I am an old school 48 year old man who is more than ever appreciating the way things use to be. My 72 has a q-jet with electric chock and I love the fact that I have to pump it 3 or 4 times, fire it up and wait for it to warm up before I can go. I love to pull the vents open and roll down the windows. It does not bother me when I am sitting in a parking lot somewhere trying to figure out why I have no spark. I love it when it loads up at times and I have to clean it out on the back roads.

The best money I have ever spent on my 72 or my 64 is making sure it stays the way it was. I love the challenge of finding original GM parts. They are worth all the money I spend on them.

Re: "Best $ I ever spent" ?

Since sway bar and ls swap have been said ill say my new bench seat. I don't slide around hanging on the steering wheel on curvy roads any more. $60 and some labor and it feels like a whole new truck.

Re: "Best $ I ever spent" ?

Of course its the money spent to buy the truck in the first place!!!!!

After that it has to be the money spent on the........ well crap....... on anything really..... I love putting money into this truck.

Ok, OK... I know why this thread was started, I will have to say the money spent on the drivetrain/ride height is my favorite money spent.
I love to smash the pedal and hear the exhaust, and love walking out of home-depot and seeing it sitting in the parking lot waiting for me to come take a ride
