Do all the 67-68 cowl hoods come from the same mfg?

I am looking for a 67-68 cowl hood and have heard of fitment problems. Is this true of all of these hoods? Is one brand better than another? Or, they are all the same, find the cheapest price + shipping?

To answer your title,no they aren't all made by one company. I haven't bought a new hood so no help there.

Having only purchased a hood via a junkyard I think there is a good amount of adjustment with the shims in the fenders etc. I think the hood will be pretty forgiving as compared to a door.

So many times these Chinese aftermarket co kicks out body parts under several different names, trucks, Camaro, mustang.. ect. Do your research first

Well, that settles that. They're all made at the same plant. But,they all sure aren't the same. That's why I assumed different companies produced them. I've seen some really flawed hoods. If I ever got one it would have to be hands and eyes on,and I mean a thorough inspection. I put one on a truck that had both back edges of the cowl induction formed completely differently. One side dropped straight down and the other slanted forward about 30 degrees. Had to weld metal on to make both sides match

Re: Do all the 67-68 cowl hoods come from the same mfg?

Tim, We run into the same problems some fit better than others coming from the same plant. The price on the 67-68 and 69-72 hoods have always been what I think on the high side compared to the 88-98 cowl hoods and I was told because the 67-72 have a much higer scrap rate compared to 88-98. So in other words every ten 67-72 they run they might get five good ones and every ten 88-98 they get nine good ones So with this being said the 67-72 hoods are a much more difficult hood to run with some runs being better than other runs.

Makes sense. I know some bolt right on and look just as good as original. Others, not so much, but it's nothing major.
