Opinions on New Exhaust Parts

I've been putting together my list for a new exhaust and was hoping to get some opinions. I'm replacing the manifolds back on my 82' C30 454, i'm looking for a little more power and a sound that won't wake the neighbors but still sound good. I will be installing the headers but will have a local shop do all the pipe installation. I was planning on having a dual 2.5" exhaust installed but am open to any good reasons on why to go to 3".

Thanks guys, appreciate it.

So far i'm thinking:

Dual 2.5 is plenty for a low compression big block in a 1 ton truck.

No need to go 3" with a stock 454. It will sound great with the 2 1/2 and a good muffler

Re: Opinions on New Exhaust Parts

I just put some Thrush welded mufflers on my truck. Not a big block (yet) but good running 350, manifolds, and awesome duals with 2" pipe. I cut the pipe bout foot behind the cab, put the mufflers on (2 1/2" in/out) and sounds amazing!!!!! Would only sound better with a big block and some headers. Put an H-pipe in, that will get rid of drone, little low end oomph too. Oh the mufflers were $30 at Advance Auto...
