New to the Forum - '67 Sub owner

Hello, all. My name is Alex and I'm the new-ish owner of a '67 C10 Suburban. I've owned it for about 2 years (just recently started DD'ing it), but it's been in the family since the mid 80's when my dad bought it. I grew up in the Suburban and have been from Oregon, to Galveston, TX, to New York in it, so it wasn't a hard decision to buy it from dad when he needed to sell it.

Anyway, it's a '67 C10, 350/NP435 4-speed, PS/PB, Custom trim, and HD springs, shocks, radiator, alternator, etc. - whoever bought this new ordered nearly every HD/towing option for a 1/2 ton, including the West Coast Jr. mirrors (although they parted ways with the truck at some point). The PS and PB appear to have been installed by the PO, as well as the NP435, and it was originally a 327 (it went through 3 of those in the last 320,000 miles :p ) but is currently a '79 350 that is only there because I got a decent deal on it and didn't want to hold out for a correctly-dated 327.

Mechanically, it's sat dormant since late 2001 so it will be a continuing project to bring it back to perfect operating condition, but I'm driving it 32 miles round-trip to work every day and it's doing fine. Cosmetically, it's fairly straight (still has most of the original paint with only one mentionable dent) but rust has taken its toll. I'm going to get the mechanical side of the ol' girl to 95% + before I tackle the bodywork.

And as for the "build" plans, everything is going back to 99% original, save for the 4-speed and PS/PB - I may even keep the points distributor. My hope, in the next few years, is for it to be a 9-out-of-10-condition daily driver.

Thanks! I plan to keep that, but it needs rebuilt pretty badly at the moment - I took it straight off the old 327 and stuck it on the 350, after sitting for 10 years. Also, I suspect the engine has an aftermarket cam in it, which will probably go in favor of a stock piece once I can determine that for sure.

Thanks, everyone! Well, I've only done basic mechanical work so far and haven't taken many pics of what I have done, but here's a shot of the Monroe Magnum shocks I put on it last weekend, along with the new Walker? mufflers and old 12-bolt:



The glove box sticker shows the F51 HD shock option, thus the reason I went with Magnums instead of Monroe-Matics. I attempted to look up exactly what shocks would be OE replacement for a '67 Sub. w/F51, but didn't find much so these are my best guess.

Got to work on the 'Burb a little more today, fixing the stripped driver's-front window regulator. I replaced the original with one I picked up from a guy near Kansas City who parts out 67-72's, and everything went in fine except for the splined shaft that the crank handle attaches to - I assumed they're all the same, but the new one is about 1/2" longer than the original, causing the crank to stick out from the little plastic grommet. Did they change at some point after '67, or is there a difference between the truck/Suburban regulators? All help is appreciated.

I think the ones for the newer "plastic" style formed CST door panels are longer. My 72 Blazer has these and my 70 had the flat metal style and are different lengths.

67-71 crank handle shafts are the same length,in 72 they changed the style of the door panels and made the crank handles about 1/2 longer to fit. Sounds like you got the 72 crank handle.

Yep! That's what happened. Oh, well - I'll address that later. It works fine, and that's a huge improvement over what it was.

Spent all afternoon on it yesterday - got the new wheel bearings in and tied up a few other loose ends, then I took it out for a good long drive last night. I'll try to post a few pics soon.

I am also new to the forum. I have a 1968 C10 panel that I have owned for 3 years. A very cool find as I wanted a fun business truck. It has a few mods I have done such as a sunk in fuel fill cap tube with a locking door that is semi flush on the outside. A camaro hood scoop, mercedes bucket seats (older) and a rear seat that is a chevy front seat. 305 V8 fitted up to a 700R4 trans (Previous owners configured this pairing). 1972 rear end. Brakes are stock. I will post pics when I can.
