Moving The Truck....Anyone done this?

I hauled my old '71 Bronco in a U-Haul. The in-box fenders (U-Haul) are only about a couple inches high. I laid 2X6 blocks down and used them to ramp over the wheel wells. I cut wheel chaulks and nailed them to the floor and then cut longer boards to wedge between the back of the front tire to the front of the U-Haul wheel wells and then set the parking brake. Then I stacked the household stuff on top of, in the back of and behind the Bronco. I used the furniture cushions and blankets as padding so neither the Bronco nor the furniture would get messed up. It actually worked pretty good. But since the Bronco is much narrower it wasn't a problem climbing out the window once inside.

The aluminum box beds are just as easy to work with. You have to be a little more creative with your wheel stops because you can't nail them in, but you can build box type stops that wedge from the front wall to the front of the front tires.

I had to haul mine this way because I was in a real time crunch and there wasn't a trailer available. My wife drove her truck which we were paid both mileage and per-diam for along with per-diam for the kids....
