When did the body style change for the HD trucks?

I thought that the 3/4ton + trucks stayed the same until 1992. Today I saw a 1989 dually for sale that was the 88-98 style.

I know I have seen trucks, suburbans, and blazers that were the old style up until 1992 with only the grille update, so where am I confused?

TIA
Jason

Square chevy's went to 91, but only crews, blazers and burbs. Oh and cab n chassis. You could get a dually, whether single cab or ext cab, in the 88-up, but not a crew cab. That would be the square style. The newer style grills came out in 89 on the squares...

And for one year, 88, you could get a square body 4x4 single cab dually OR the new 88-98 style dually.

I've got an 88 model regular cab c&c truck. You've sure got to be on your game when buying parts since most parts store catalogs don't understand these nuances and they always call out for new body style parts for any 88 model truck.

Yep. I usually tell 'em it's an '86 in an attempt to avoid the confusion.

Yep - we did it that way so there wouldn't be any confusion...
