Removing inst. cluster bezel?

Question. I'm replacing the instrument cluster bezel on my '70--how does the light switch knob/rod come off?

There is a little button on the switch that needs to be pushed in when pulling the knob out, If you have a tiny head you might be able to see it from under the dash, otherwise its all by feel......

Yes. You have to remove it, or the bezel won't come out. Pull the knob all the way out, as you would when the headlights are on. Then, reach your hand up behind the cluster, and you will feel the back side of where the headlight knob plugs in. Up on top of that housing is a button. Push it in and pull the knob the rest if the way off while pushing the button. It's sort of hard to explain. You might want to do a search. There are pictures and other instructions you're going to need

Just ran into the same thing when I replaced my headlight switch ,There is a little button on the headlight switch you have to reach under the dash and press and hold it in and the headlight rod should pull right out

Re: Removing inst. cluster bezel?

When I did mine, I just pulled and the knob came off. I figured I was in trouble because now it would come off every time I used the light, but I put it back on and haven't had any problem.

Be sure to disconnect your battery first otherwise the headlights can't be turned off until you reinstall the knob back in.
