Wiring...

I am installing a EZ wiring harness in my 51 1/2 ton. The engine is a 1968, 327. It has electric senders for temp and oil pressure. The new harness has wires for those too. I want to use the original gauges (with new face plates and needles etc...) but they are for mechanical mechanical senders. I have the original senders. Will they bolt on to my 327?? and work? Or should I mount a some new gauges below the dash, and leave the originals just for looks?

Also, fuel gauge...S10 frame and fuel tank, 1951 fuel gauge. I thought I remeber someone on hear figuring out how to use the original gauge with the higher OHM fuel sender from the S10. Is it as simple as putting a resistor in line to send the correct current to the fuel gauge?

If you like your original gauges then you should use them. If the original senders won't fit (although they most likely do if they came off a SBC) then a quick trip to your local parts store or "pick and pull" should solve the problem.

The mech senders are off the original 216 motor. Maybe they will work, I'll need to check that out.

The original 216 senders are matched to the gauge, they do not know or care what kind of engine they are sensing. I am running my original 235 senders with the original gauges on a 350, before that it was a 283. Just make sure that the temp is in a deep enough hole so that it does not ground out. It should bolt right up, if not you can get adaptors for both at the parts store. Can't help on the s10 gas gauge, but there are plenty of swaps in the build section.

I personally would keep the original gauges if thats what you want, just cap and bury the wires in your plastic loom and use your mechanicals. As stated earlier you can head down to just about any auto parts or even home depot for the brass fittings/ adaptors to make work what you have to your 327.
As for a fuel sending unit, I have a 30 ohm fuel sending unit for an aftermarket tank if you can make it work.
I won't be using it as I decided to go full after market on my gauges. PM me if you'd like it.

I am trying to use the original water temp gauge on my Sub with a 77 350. The lead for the gauge is not long enough to reach the hole for it in the head or the intake manifold. How did you guys hook yours up?
