In the midst of converting my truck from a standard to an automatic, the previous owner did not connect the wiring for the back up lights. Currently, the wire is poking out of the firewall and dangling towards the engine. Should I just reel it in and tie it off or do something else? WHAT WOULD YOU DO?????

I would roll it and forget it. it's not required for inspection. JMO

Back up lights are a safety issue if you plan on driving on the roads. I'd connec them definitely.

I'd forget about it, or if you really wanted backup lights, I'd redo what ever wires I could just to eliminate future problems

should only be two wires for the backup lights, and 2 wires for the nuteral safty switch. I would get the parts and hook it up. That way people can tell if you are trying to backup and what not. And you wont beable to start the truck in gear.

i have been driving around for 2 years with no backup lights it sucks when you have to back up late at night though especially if you have a trailer on it.

Never had working back up lights on a truck, and never missed them.
Never had a working neutral safgety switch either...but I put my truck in park before shutting it off so it won't roll away...never had a problem with starting in gear.

I say screw it.

Put it on a rocker switch, so you could also flash high beamers from behind

oh. my po did the same thing converting from 3-speed to auto and the reverse ligths dont work. i didnt kno they werent required. they would be nice though... no neutral safety switch either. one truck doesnt even go itno park

I like having backup lights. They are nice during the night!

reverse lights could be handy if you ever have to backup while in traffic...like when you are sitting at a 4 way intersection, stopped, and a semi to your right is turning left and can't make the turn with you there, because they thought they would take a detour on some back roads. lol, sorry, i just don't care too much for semi drivers.
