Question Short of the long ? for u

If you cut a LWB truck down to a short bed how does it effect the DMV of the title and such since all of the titles I have seen say such and such long bed extended cab whatever.

What does it do to make the title right for the truck I guess is what I'm asking.
If you try to sell it.
The weight numbers all that seems to me would be worthless and a headache to straighten out.
Just wondering.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

It depends on the state. In my state, the DMV won't change the title, regardless of what you do to the car. They consider it fraudulent.

This is what I thought to. How do people get away with cutting one up then selling it? I would think something was done to the title are the state in which u live doesn't care.
I wouldn't ever buy a truck that had been done but was just wondering after seeing a company on face book say that's what they are doing and going to sell it afterwards.

I replaced one of the Olds 350 diesels with a 455. I wanted to change the title from diesel to gasoline just to be honest. When I went to the DMV, they accused me of trying to commit fraud.

Cars and trucks have been cut, swapped, shortened, lengthened and basically changed from the original configuration for 100 years. Back in the 60's I made a beach buggy out of a 56 mercury. I removed the sheet metal from the windshield back and shortened the frame by about 18 inches and made a small pickup bed for it. The original vehicle registration never changed. As far as the state was concerned it was still a 56 Mercury two door hardtop with a 292 v8.

Kind of like painting..Georgia DMV ask for the color of the vehicle, but that doesn't mean you can't change the color of it.

Wink Re: Short of the long ? for u

I guess what I'm asking is the frame is on the title as a LWB with a certain weight for that truck. If you cut the frame off then that weight is no longer good per that title. This would in fact be wrong. I would think it would make the truck illegal also on the road.

Yes dear I know people change the paint and what nots on a truck but it doesn't effect the title like mentioned. Cosmetic changes have been done forever. That's not the question. The frame is the structure in which the manufacture built his product on and was given a licence to do so for a given weight. I would think this could lead to all kinds of legal problems if the truck was sold by said person and it involved in a wreck are was stolen even.
