C14 ???

My neighbor just bought a 1983 Cheyenne truck.
On the title it is called a C14. I know what c10, c20, k10 etc means but not the C14. The truck looks to me like it is put together with stuff from various years. It was a diesel and now is a gas motor.
Don't know if it being a diesel originally is why the C14.
I started looking around to find what it meant then I thought, Heck, I can find out on this site......

Re: C14 ???

Typo...it happens. The wrong VIN number was put on the title to my wifes truck and we had to get that changed.

Re: C14 ???

I see this post shows moved.
I have scrolled thru the different forums and don't see it. It's possible I overlooked it but I am curious about why it was moved. Seems like a general question to me.

Re: C14 ???

the reason it was moved ( not by me but wherever you posted it originally) was prolly because the truck involved is a 1983 model. It belongs here so you wont have to chase it again...
Im seconding the typo UNLESS the vehicle has a state issued vin because it was put together from several trucks and was issued a vin that way and the original builder decided to try and call it his own version.

Re: C14 ???

this is the forum I posted it to. It shows moved. I have pretty much scrolled thru all the other forums and cannot find it. Don't know where it got moved to. I may have over looked it somewhere but I am puzzled. (not hard to do anymore)

that one i cannot explain then.. unless another moderator or staff member moved it thinking they were on a different section and then moved it here ..It shows like it was originally posted here for me so it may be some kind of computer issue that i have no clue about..
In any event your post is good and here and if anyone else has an answer for you hopefully we can unravel this mystery

Re: C14 ???

I have a feeling it is just a typo. The person who did the title was probably hung over that morning.

Re: C14 ???

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I just bought a 65 Chevy C10 and the title and VIN says that it's a C14. Has anybody come across any information on this?

Thanks.

"14" is the VIN coding for a 1/2 ton series shortbox pickup.

It does not indicate the truck is a "C14" series, like a "C60". Although unfortunately similar looking they are unrelated.

I could be wrong but I thought 81 was the last year for Cheyenne until the 88-98 generation.

You guys are correct: no Cheyenne option in 1983

Custom Deluxe/Sierra = base
Scottsdale/High Sierra = RPO Z62
Silverado/ Sierra Classic = YE9
