Re: Project "River Truck" - CCLB 4x4

Not much to report lately but I've been having fun with the truck. Drove it to an outdoor wedding where it got a lot of attention. Cut and split some wood the other day. These are the sort of outings that this truck is for.

Re: Project "River Truck" - CCLB 4x4

So some bigger news.... Yesterday I ordered a 4" lift from Offroad Design. I'm pretty excited about it! I decided to pull the bed off so that the rear lift install will be a little easier but mainly because I've been needing to get access to the fuel lines near the tanks. They need to be replaced and it would be almost impossible to do with the bed on. I had never taken a bed off before but it's not a massive job. 8 bed bolts, a few electrical connections, rear axle breather tube, disconnect the fuel fillers from the bed and it comes off.

Just read the whole thread and your doing a great job! And you did real well with this truck, not easy finding a truck like yours that hasn't been abused terribly. Keep it up!

Truck looks awesome. Curious to see how the rear wheel is centered with the lower shackle flip.

Re: Project "River Truck" - CCLB 4x4

Thanks y5mgisi. It steers the same as before the lift and the ride is better. I think that's because the old shocks were shot. Hopefully the new shocks will continue to break in and it gets even better.

Re: Project "River Truck" - CCLB 4x4

Thanks! I just cant figure out what the heck shocks i want to get... i was thikning the 8000's might be a bit too harsh and that i might want the 6000's. My k25 is fairly "light" and will be getting an ls motor which will lighten it up more. So im currently thinking i want to get the tuff country 2" ex ride(non hd) front springs, the 2.5" shackle flip for the rear and i kinda think the 8000's since i'll have the non hd springs.

This isn't related to 73-87 trucks but we were messing around in my brothers shop the other night and I shot this video:

WOW! That sure sounds healthy! But you should never do that in reverse! Pushes the gears away from each other. Saw the axle move front to back some too. Can't say I haven't done it myself but I learned the expensive way. What's she got for a motor?

Re: Project "River Truck" - CCLB 4x4

That's actually not me driving and not my rig either. That's really good to know though. Thanks JJ. Luckily the concrete is pretty slick. I think it's just a 350 with headers and not much of an exhaust after that. I'll have to ask though.

Arrover, looks like you had the h2 rims on your truck that was stock height? How did they fit and drive? Do you know or remember the tire size? Thanks

Re: Project "River Truck" - CCLB 4x4

Yes I did have the H2s on the truck at stock height. I think the stock suspension was even a little sagged. The tires were the same 285/70-17 Hankook MTs that are on it now. They actually fit pretty well. I think there was a little bit of rubbing at full lock but I don't remember it being very bad. The tires are about half worn and they did get close to the fender trim if I remember correctly. My fenders are not trimmed at all and I never four wheeled the truck. I do like the wheels though. You will need conversion lug nuts though. They aren't hard to find on the internet.

Thanks man. Are the conversion lug nuts just so one can use the center caps? Or will I need them no matter what?

You will need them no matter what you do for center caps. This video will explain more about the conversion lug nuts: http://youtu.be/C6dlwm5IUcw . The conversation about the lug nuts starts at about 2:50.
