What would you use from an IROC

If all goes well I will soon be getting another project, a 70 C10 SWB fleetside. It's pretty rough and the engine and trans are dismantled. I have an 86 IROC that has been sinking into the ground next to my barn for a few years. Was running when parked.

I am leaning toward using the TPI 307 and 200 4R in the C10. Then I started wondering what else might be useful on the truck. I only have been toying with the idea, haven't measured anything or dismantled anything yet.

If you could take anything you wanted from an Iroc to use on a C10, what would you use?

Re: What would you use from an IROC

Iroc should be a 305/700R4.

I'd get the Iroc out, running and sell it and use the $ towards a 5.3 swap.
They are starting to get kinda sorta valuable.

Re: What would you use from an IROC

I agree with Jon01, the $$ from selling the iroc would be much more beneficial than a 305 & 700R4.

Re: What would you use from an IROC

If the IROC has any value, it's going to be as a complete car.

If the 305 has any value, it's going to be in the IROC.

I agree, sell it and get something that's better at moving a truck.

I say take the rear wing off the IROC and attach it to the top of your cab for additional downforce

Re: What would you use from an IROC

For some reason, I've always liked the look of the IROC's, but, I"d say if that car has a basket case body, I'd put the engine/trans in the truck. Why was the car parked?

I think the rear swaybar can be rigged up on the back of a c10. Everybody else has a better idea...

Pull the engine trans relays computer and modules add a painless harness fuel system and get to driving.

That's what I have on mine. The IROC sway bars are 15/16" vs 7/8" for the other Camaros.

Of course selling the car and using the money for an LS coversion for truck still ranks #1. #2 would be using the drivetrain from the IROC in the truck, and then putting a turbo'd junkyard LS in the IROC and drag racing it until it blows up.

Re: What would you use from an IROC

Wow. I did not expect so many replies. Thanks.
I haven't figured out how to drag down multiple quotes to address specific input, but...

Thanks for advising that its 305/700r4, I actually knew it was a 305 but for some reason called it a 307. Didn't know it was a 700r4 though.

Don't think I will put the wing anywhere.

Car was parked primarily because it was my Mother's and she quit driving it and let the DMV fee's stack up. I drove ti to my house, parked it, and by now the fees are probably worse than the car is worth. Running IROCs just aren't bringing big money out here and this one has the usual issues associated with sitting.

The rear sway bar is good to know about. Thanks.

Haven't checked comparable weights between the C10 and the IROC. If they are close, I could live with the performance of the 305. The 86 was one of if not the lowest performance IROC and it still got up and went pretty well.

Nothing useable from the front suspension?

Re: What would you use from an IROC

If the body is still solid, put the Iroc on Ebay. Someone in the rust belt will snatch it up, then the CA back fees are a non-issue.
