Re: My new find... 1963 Suburban

Clyde, bought from my buddy after 2 years of bugging here in central PA.

Some more pics,

did all Suburbans have 3 rows of seats?? Looks like heavy duty rear springs to raise rear; will pick up springs work or is the rear of the sub too heavy?

drove around development today...

Damn 20s have to go and have to get it lower, and soon!!

Re: My new find... 1963 Suburban

Not all burbs had 3 rows of seats, your only had 2. You can tell by the side windows, if the rear side window slides it had the 3rd row of seats.

I don't think truck springs will work, but I'm not positive.

Re: My new find... 1963 Suburban

thanks for the info MikeS; someone must have added the mounts for the 3rd row....

Looks like heavy duty springs in the rear, much bigger around than normal truck coils; are all subs like this?

thanks again, I have had a bunch of trucks 5+ but this is my first Burb.

Re: My new find... 1963 Suburban

Wagz I think so. Re: springs

Like you I've had several trucks but am on my 1st Burb. A 63 4x4.

I'm pretty sure they all came with the mounting holes for 3 rows of seats mine has them too. The full width seat was the 2nd seat on 2 rows or the 3rd seat on 3 rows. The middle row was an 80% seat so you could get to the 3rd row.

We're gonna have to get together, Harrisburg is about 100 miles for me, you shouldn't be much further. Amish food anyone?

Re: My new find... 1963 Suburban

With Chevrolet trucks Heavy Duty generally used components from the next weight rating. 1/2 ton Heavy Duty generally used 3/4 ton regular duty shocks and springs.

Re: My new find... 1963 Suburban

anyone know where I can get lowered coils for the back of a suburban? I am trying to just do lowered coils and new shocks.

is there any value in my stock "second stage" coil springs?

thanks in advance,

WAGZ

Re: My new find... 1963 Suburban

Well, easy come - easy go... my Buddy made me an offer I couldn't refuse. going to finish a few things up for him, but he bought it...

I want to switch it back to original 6 lug, need front hubs; PO welded stock holes shut and drilled them for 5 lug... back is just adapters I am taking off.

Any1 have any stock hubs laying around? don't need spindles/brakes/etc... just need the hubs with wheel studs.

more Pics coming!

thanks in advance,

WAGZ
