60-66 stereo options
I'm not seeing much in terms of bass. Anyone have a good sub install in a 60-66? There is such limited space, what are you guys running?
also having no door locks... I've been tempted to try to hide the CD player under the dash and blankout/shave the current stereo slot. what have you guys done? |

Re: 60-66 stereo options
I moved the gas tank out, now there's plenty of room for an amp and custom MDF sub box.
With the gas tank still in the cab, about the only way is to build one or two custom sized MDF board boxes to fit under the seats.

Re: 60-66 stereo options
If your tank is relocated there is tons of room for two 10s or two 12s in shallow boxes
I personally have two 10s behind the seat powered by 1200 watts |

Re: 60-66 stereo options
ozzy can I see pics of your setup, subs and amp? I am moving the tank to under bed. hell, in be if I have to, but its going. I was hoping for maybe 2 x 10's if possible but it still looks shallow even with tank pulled....
would love to see both, decks, as well as amp/sub configurations. and yea, I looked a lot in the stereo section but didn't see what I really wanted to see. I'm sure someone has built something badass?? |

Re: 60-66 stereo options
I used a cheaper Pioneer deck, a good amp with an eq under my seat, and a 8 inch bass tube on the passenger side behind the seat.... great sound.

Re: 60-66 stereo options
Currently my Cab is gutted for restoration and rust repair but I do have a picture.
I was 16 when I installed this and nothing was secured except for the amp, being young and dumb I screwed it into the rear cab sheet metal...... Guess what I'm doing now? Filling holes! The subs must be made for a low cubic ft shallow box for this setup to work. These boxes also had some horn tweeters mounted ontop of them, I'd recommend a ported box being so small Been a while but now that I look at them I think they might be 8's, but I could have sworn they were 10s |

Re: 60-66 stereo options
Mine should only hit about 130db. That's only 5db louder than a rock concert.
I'm 40 now, when I was younger, it was more like 125db, need to make up for the loss over the years.

Re: 60-66 stereo options
In my 63, I made a box to fit in between the firewall and the seat with a single 10" sub firing upward on the transmission tunnel.

Re: 60-66 stereo options
I have a shallow 12, in a downfiring box that fit under my bench. I pulled the adj rod for some extra space. You cant see any of it. deck is in the glovy, 6x9s are on the floor right up front.
