I finally broke down and ordered my wheels and tires. I went with the Cragar Classic 69 series wheels 15x8 square set up. For tires I ordered Cooper Cobra GT 245/60 front and 255/60 rear. Also added the 3" port-o-walls.

The spider caps that Cragar sells for the wheels are only available in 5 lug. Since I am still 6 lug I went with the Gorilla Bullet centers with matching bullet lugs.

Well I have been working on the Fauxtina this weekend. I got the wheels and tires on. Installing a DJM 5/5 drop this Weds.

It's a fake whitewall. You put them on your black wall tires when you're mounting them to get the whitewall look.

They have been around for 50 years or more. Cheap way of making any tire into a wide white.

They do have their downsides too though.

Correct. I have run them on several vehicles. Although they are not perfect they are a very inexpensive option to traditional whites.

The most common complaint about Porta-walls is how they yellow and crack over time. You're very likely to change your wheels and tires before it happens. Some patina admirers might even appreciate seeing aged Porta-walls instead of white ones.

If you want to stretch out their life though, DON'T use silicone protectant (most tire shine, dashboard products). You need to kill the effects of UV. Try a real wax, again not silicone, but the polymers are OK while earlier formulas let them "breathe" better. You may prefer neutral shoe polish, or even painting over it with a craft store semi-gloss clear coating for preserving artwork.

Lowering kit is on. It is not level however. Looks like I have more work to do. The driver side is roughly two inches lower than the passenger.

Check that you have both front springs clocked properly. The end of the bottom loop should set into the control arm in the little groove made for it.

Also make sure your upper ends of both coils are seated in the upper mounts. Both springs should be located in the middle of the round cutout in the crossmember. Usually a pry bar or even driving it a bit for a few blocks will seat them. You'll hear a pop noise and feel it settle into place.
