Cool ATT: CT Truckster..........header wrap

Out of respect for Erics thread I started this one to answer your question.

Header wrap has its good points and bad
Good... Cheap, insulates the engine from heat better than ceramic coatings
Bad... After a year it starts to get brittle, I have noticed my headers rusting up fast than usual, if you have to work right against it the fibers will eat you up.

If you want to use it soak the wrap in water 1hr before doing it that way its more flexable and the fiber material wont end up all over you. My self this is my second set of wrapped header it will be my last. It looks good at first and I get alot of compliments but its just too much trouble.

cool, thanks for the reply, I decided to wrap my headers too. Iknow everyone says it makes them rust even faster, but if it will last a year I'll be happy then I will get some already coated. At least I won't have to look at the rust. I think it looks pretty cool myself. It was a slight PITA especially wrapping the tubes where they were so close together. The kit came with this high temp silver silicone coating stuff you spray on after wrapping them. Seems to me it would seal in moisture instead of keeping it out, I don't know, but made'm look alot better.
oh yeah, your right about those fibers. A tip to anyone else, don't scratch your nuts while your doing this, lol. but the paint stuff seemed to seal it so the fibers don't get stirred up like before.

It can't be an worse than the go that went to pee while using spray in bedliner

Another tip is any time you use fiberglass, and you get it on your skin, wash the effected area in vinegar. It will remove the glass particles from your pores.
