How much rear axle to frame clearance???

I have been working on my rear suspension on my '59 task force truck and need help on how much clearance you normally should have on the TCI (or flipped) leaf spring setup between axle tube and bottom of frame at ride height. I don't intend to run it extremely low, but was thinking I may c-notch the frame now if it needs it. Can some of you measure your trucks axle clearance for me? Thanks.

Before I installed my step notch I had around 2" with an empty gas tank. My advice is to install the notch now instead of wishing you would have later.

Here are a couple pictures of a TCI spring kit... you can see how low it sits and this is before the bed was put on... As far as I know after the owner got it back and drove it he never had a problem of it hitting... but it would not hurt to install a c-notch just for peace of mind if for nothing else... like was said before better now than to wish you had...

Heres a pic of my tci spring kit. Four inches from frame to axle tube. 3.5 inches from axle u bolt to frame. This is with no bed weight and empty gas tank.

My moms 90s Dakota sits at 4" empty it is in like new condition. So that is what I shot for. I figure the Dakota rides nice and doesn't bottom out I can adjust my52 to match that window.

After seeing this, I ordered a set of the TCI leaf springs. Thanks for all the info.
