Three-to-two pedal conversion

Hey guys,
I don't remember anyone covering this, and I'want to go from three on the tree to an automatic.
Can I take the 2 pedal assembly off of a newer (than 66) truck and put in mine? I've seen where some just remove the clutch pedal, and it looks in my humble opinion. I plan on upgrading the accel pedal anyways, so that part isn't as much of an issue, I think.

I didn't think that there was any difference between an automatic and manual brake pedal setup. I thought the clutch pedal just got removed. Maybe its just a physically wider pedal that you are looking for like on later model trucks?

Reread your post and realized I was slightly off. I bet you could modify a 70s truck brake pedal to work but haven't seen it done either. Sorry I guess I'm not much help after all!

I don't have pics, but when we converted the '65 I just removed the clutch pedal, then for cosmetic reasons, I cut off the clutch pedal, just above the offset "steps"(closer to the pivot) Then I marked and cut the brake pedal off, 2" lower,providing and overlap. I welded the clutch pedal to the brake pedal arm, and the offset moved the pedal pad about 2 1/2" to the drivers' side, which to me, made it alot more comfortable and looked better..

Sorry if that is confusing, hard to describe without pics.

Not confusing at all, Tincan.
I was wondering if a 73-87 two pedal set up will go in without a serious amount of mods.
Looks like I may just have to get one and find out!

This is what I did to my 60: Disconnect the return springs for the clutch and brake pedal. Slide out the long shaft (pin) from the top mounting bracket of the clutch and brake pedal by removing a bolt and nut from the end cap and disregard the clutch pedal. With the brake pedal removed I cut off the brake pedal slightly below where the bend (curve) starts. Found a donor Chevy truck 70-90s with a disc brake pedal and cut off with a torch. I measured the piece I cut off from the original pedal and used the same measurements and welded on the replacement foot pedal with a new rubber pad. Finished off the pedal with very little body work and paint. When reinstalling the brake pedal add grease to the shaft and be very care full with the plastic bushins inside the upper brake pedal hanger bracket. I ended using the ones on the disregarded clutch pedal because they were in better shape. Here is a pic I just took and been driving my truck for a year now...People see it and always ask me if it came original with an automatic and power brakes...
