Identify this harness

I have a pretty hacked harness that I can't identify. Can anybody help? It appears to run through the firewall based on the grommet, but for the life of me I can't remember what it hooks to.

Re: Identify this harness

That grommet is puzzling. I don't have A/C but nothing goes back thru the firewall on mine from the harness. If you have an assembly manual that might help you. Sorry I don't have an answer for you.

Re: Identify this harness

Actually it is the tcs harness- transistor controlled spark. At some point there was a pair of relays and a vac. Pull off that connected between the distributed and carb and wire to trans that limited full vac. Advance until in high gear. Early emissions control and not needed u less you really want it.

Re: Identify this harness

TCS harness, (Transmission Controlled Spark). This controlled the vacuum advance so that it would not advance until the engine was at a set temperature and the transmission was in high gear. It could also been tied in with the carburetor solenoid if the vehicle was equipped with one.

It could be very detrimental to the performance and mileage of the truck.

Re: Identify this harness

Thanks guys for the info. Was this some kind of option or standard equipment? The hole in the firewall doesn't seem to be in any of the pictures I've searched on this forum. In some cases there is a hole for the tach harness but it's location is not the same. I guess I'll just try to find some kind of plug for the hole and toss that mess of wires.
