Task Force - Cupholders, NOT in the Seat or Center Console?

Does anyone have a somewhat nice suggestion for how to make a cup holder in our trucks other than between our thighs,

I have a stock bench seat and no intention of installing a center console. I don't want to drill any visible holes. I'm owndering about something that might clip or bolt onto the underside lip of the dash that could be pushed aside when not in use. Ideas? Photos would be best.

PS: It ain't a Porsche (nor a minivan) so don't anyone get an attitude about cupholders being "just wrong" or some such in our trucks.

P.S. I hate those plastic things that hang on the window ledge.

Check out some boat parts suppliers. I have a wire basket like one on a swivel in my boat. Sorry no pictures - I'm in sacramento and the boat is in seattle.

Dan, Here's an option. Going to fab a bracket to fit under the seat. Don't know what it is out of but it will work for me.

Nordic, that certainly looks like it would work but I admit I'd worry about gouging my knees in the event of a bumper thumper.

Here is what I did. I had already made the tube frame for the seats and stole Kustombrads basic configuration. Fold out of the way when not in use, down low out of elbow range.

Pretty much EXACTLY what I was looking for. Of course I don't have my stock seat sitting on such a frame but I'll look under there and see if there's something I could adapt this idea to, OR consider making a frame like that just in the front.

Where did you source the large washer-looking thing for the bottom and it's diameter? How about the same for the huge ring?

I don't have any way to make those (that I can think of!) so I'm thinking maybe something out of a Grainger or McMaster-Carr catalog?

The big washer came from Tacoma Screw a big commercial hardware supplier. The ring is a saddle cinch ring cut and welded to flat stock at the right diameter to fit my mugs. You could just use a tube as a spacer and bolt it thru the seat cross brace. I used a self locking nut and nylon washers to adjust the tension.

Dan you can make them with hole saws. just find one with the ID you want for the outside diameter do the OD first then use the same pilot hole for the inside diameter.

Huh? "...seat cross brace"? What's that? Guess I'd better pull the seat and take a look under there.

Yeah, I figured a Nylok nut and a rubber washer (plastic is a better idea) would be used to make the "turn pressure" adjustable.

Cup holder builders. Just a thought. There's no rules that say what they can be made of. There are so many different designs of interiors out there and so many people with different talents. Something in acrylic to wood to billet stuff would serve the purpose. You just don't want to spill that liquid. More ideas.

Look at 1996-03 Grand Caravan center seats to find a cup holder similar to the one in post #4.

Actually, the oe radio opening is a great place for something like the push-in cup holders from 92-ish Toyota trucks.

That's actually a very good idea for me NOW while my truck is a heap.

As usual OrrieG comes up with the great 5.00 fix that looks like it would work fantastic and a guy or gal could build it to fit their personal beverage container.

Most Mopar Minivans have something like what 1project2many showed in the third photo but the one in my wife's van was/is a bit flimsy and all plastic

Ah....mucho gusto! When you wrote seat brace I was thinking ON the bench seat, not the floor.
