How to swap column, stering box, power stering on a chevy truck 56 1/2 ton?

May be, my first question was lost.
Hi guys from San Diego.

thanks

Re: How to swap column, stering box, power stering on a chevy truck 56 1/2 ton?

Thank you so much.
I found some info in Classic Performance Parts.
They have two kits: one expensive that includes stering box, power stering pump and stering column, plus some spacers and brackets.
Other less expensive that is only brackets and spacers that allow swaping 71 and newer chevy van stering box, pump and column.
Now I'm reading both info, but if one member at this forum has any ideas, are very welcome.
Thanks

If you look up converting a Ford F-100, they use a Toyota box, mounted in the same location as stock so you do not have the problems with the drag link and tire interference. I have also heard that some mid 2000-10 Gm truck boxes might work to. Look at Denee's thread, she used one of the kits.

I would stay away from the kit that mounts the box outside the frame in front of the axle. I have that one and don't like it. I think the other style that mounts a box in the stock location would be better, but knowing what I know now I wouldn't use either one. I'd apply the cost of those kits toward a Scott's setup.

I agree with Russell the geometry on both kits are just bad.

The 56 F-100 guys are saying a power steering box for an 85 Toyota 4x4 is the one to use.

Re: How to swap column, stering box, power stering on a chevy truck 56 1/2 ton?

CPP just came out with a new PS box earlier this year. They call it a CPP 400 box and it mounts in the same location as the original box does just like the Toyota one does.

I have the 400 box but haven't driven the truck yet as I am in the middle of the restoration on it.

I do have it mocked up in place though.

The steering column is and Ididit column shift model.
