1985 GMC stepper 4 inch lift questions!
Hey yall, just trying to get all my ducks in older,I'm going to be running 33' MTZs, It's a 1985 GMC High Sierra short bed stepside 305 4x4, gearing is 3.08. Alright so im going to be being a 4 inch EZ Ride tuff country lift with blocks in the rear and a add a leaf too in the rear, maybe. I'm curious will i need to lengthen my drive shaft, or anything else?

Re: 1985 GMC stepper 4 inch lift questions!
Done a couple 4" lifts & here's what I had to do: driveshaft should be fine, but mine were LWB trucks, changed to a raised pitman arm, brake lines were ok,but may depend on your application. The 3:08s might be too much for the 33s,but again depends on your wants& needs. If I missed anything, somebody will jump in...

33's, 305, 3:08's = a nice scenic ride!
my old K5 had a 4", didn't do nothing to the driveshafts, also used raised steering arm. |

Re: 1985 GMC stepper 4 inch lift questions!
I had a brain fart there! Was thinking about my 80 K10 with 4" lift.I ran 31s a long time with 2.73s,it worked good, but when I put 33s on it was too much.Went to 3:42s & that was way better! I did that lift really cheap, didn't even change the pitman arm either & it worked ok.Your 3:08s should be fine...
