Rear License Plate

How does the Rear license plate bracket mount? My truck didn't have one or a rear bumper.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Re: Rear License Plate

In that photo the long slotted holes are for the license plate to mount to the bracket. You can barely see the two holes (kinda beneath/behind) the slotted bracket that bolt to the cross piece below the bed. It'll look like THIS:

Re: Rear License Plate

Thanks Dan. I figured that it mounted to the cross sill but just wanted to make sure before I started drilling holes.

Re: Rear License Plate

I THINK the holes should already be there from the factory; mine were though it had never had one of these brackets.

In the photo you can see the holes where the plate was bolted flat to the left side of the cross sill. I need to go around and weld a bunch of holes shut. What the HELL was it with drilling holes in these old trucks anyway?!

Re: Rear License Plate

I bought a replacement and their are no holes in it my old one was toast. It looked like some one beat it with a sledge hammer then fill it with bono.

Not sure how to help on this one... but here's mine with holes drilled in bed and license affixed slightly above HD bumper.
