P10 Box Sizes?

I'm thinking of a late 60s P10 for my next project. I've found a couple. There seems to of been different sizes available. One is a good 6 to 8 inches longer behind the rear tire. I know both aluminum and steel bodies were produced but know I see there are also differences in the box length. Can anyone please share some some knowledge on this? The longer version also has wider rear doors.
Thx in advance...

Re: P10 Box Sizes?

First of all.. Welcome to the board!

I can not really help you on all the differences in the lengths of the P10's I do know there are quite a few and the real short ones are hard to find. (commonly called ice cream trucks)
here is a thread on the P series vans to take a peek at.

I have a 68 shorty P10 waiting in the wings for a built 350/T400 and a full air ride suspension setup. unfortunately its a few vehicles down on the "to build" list.

Re: P10 Box Sizes?

Where to start? The 1970 Step-Van 7 P10s they were nominal 7ft (86") or 8 ft(98") inside length bodies on a 102" chassis. The inside heights were 65" or 69". The wide rear doors were optional but I am not sure of the model applicability. The Step-Van King and Aluminum Step-Van King bodies were much larger on several P20 and P30 chassis. Also there were a number of aftermarket body builders offering trucks built on the P series chassis. For some reason I'd like one as well maybe an Aluminum PE30/133" ... now if only Spicer Vee Drives were more prevalant. :-)
