A/C Vents

I think I will close up the radio hole in the dash and would like a center vent there. What are you guys using for vents? This would be for an AD truck, but post anything you have. It is not that I am too cheap to buy the billet ones. aI just would like the vents to look like they belong there.

Re: A/C Vents

I used some from Vintage Air. They are chrome, round (which I think goes good with the round shapes in these AD trucks) plus they were only $10 each...

Here is a link to the web site.

I used Prt # 490535 Double vane louver chrome. But there are others as well.

Re: A/C Vents

I thought about putting the center vent in the speaker grill. I also like those round A/C register/vents. Maybe I will do both. My truck is a 54---Which I really like. BUT, I Hate the 54 dash. I just got a 53 dash to retrofit. I am thinking of removing the ash tray and moving the glove box to the left and relocating the headlight switch. Then I would have enough room to have vents on the dash next to the gauges and next to the glove box. I have to give it some more thought.

That's so cool about metal there are so many possibilities. My biggest problem is deciding on just one.

Re: A/C Vents

Anyone have any other suggestions for vents behind the original dash speaker location? I'm installing a Vintage Air system and we've removed the center vent and used that space to install the control for the SecretAudio stereo system. I would still like a center vent for the heat and a/c. Any ideas on something that I can use behind the dash speaker grill? I'd prefer to be able to open and close it but that might be asking too much.

Re: A/C Vents

60's t-birds had a neat double center vent that used a single knob to control the up-down and side-to-side movement of each vent. You see them on e-auction now and then. Might could be adapted in or below dash.

I don't have a picture of the spot, but it's the stock dash speaker spot that I'm trying to put a vent into. Does that make sense? I took out the original radio and speaker combo and rather than just have a blank space behind the speaker grill in the dash, I'm hoping to come up with a way to run a vent there but I'd really like to be able to adjust it and maybe even close it (in a perfect world). :-)

Yeah, I was just wondering how much room you have. With everybody doing different things no two are alike.

Re: A/C Vents

Here is a picture showing the open speaker grill in the dash. In the bottom of the picture you can see where the control unit for the SecretAudio has been installed in the middle vent. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
