Quad High Beams

Following is a link to a site that is familiar to this board. I will reserve comment till after you read it..............

http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/exte..._highbeams.htm

Who is Clint Collins and why does his bulb "pulsate"?

Why does he not know that ALL FOUR BEAMS work on EVERY 81-87 truck with Quad Headlights FROM THE FACTORY!

He says "Enjoy the fruits of my frustrating trial and error!"

I hope he didn't spend too much time on the trial and error part!!

None of this info is correct for use on this planet (Earth)

Do they screen (or even read) the content before they post it to their web site?

Clint, you da man! Thanks

This is 73-87 spacific so that is why I posted here. Thanks

Re: Quad High Beams

Maybe he did a late model conversion on his round eye and didn't know?

Nowhere is there any mention of a "round eye" or a late model conversion in my thread or the post that I linked back to.
That said, I thank you for your insightful comment, I can awalys count on you add the grit, the real nuts & bolts, the honest detail to a subject so anyone who reads it knows exactly what I was trying to relay to them.
You never let me down INSIDIOUS.. lol Thanks

Re: Quad High Beams

Well both of us not paying close attention misread. He has an 87. While I agree with you on the fact that high and low both turn on stock I do know that aftermarket lights run two prong sometimes effectively killing quad operation. As for his "pulsating" he was talking about the wire that's on the blinker relay that makes the light blink. Why he's getting into that section of the lights is beyond me

Re: Quad High Beams

Sweet! Now I can increase the current draw on my turn signal circuit! Good thing I own an '83 too, I'd hate to be some poor SOB with an '81 or '82 that had the RPO V22*.

* - near as I can tell V22 was for the upgraded front appearance, I think GM called it WITH CHROME GRILLE...thank you GM for that descriptive bit of information...not to mention the dual lamps instead of singles.

Re: Quad High Beams

Perhaps an email to the guy that runs that site (not Clint Collins) would have been more productive?

His name is Jeff Drew: jdrew@73-87.com OR you could PM him here, his screen name is Bigblock73.

Perhaps Jeff was not aware of the 4 headlights on with highbeam as he owns round headlight trucks.... who knows, but everyone is entitled to a mistake now and then.
