Ideal backspacing?

I have a c10 lowered 2.5 inches in the front and 3 inches in the back. I am planning to run a 18x8 wheel with 255/55-18 tires front and back. What is a safe backspacing? Does anybody have a similar setup? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks Joe

Re: Ideal backspacing?

When I hear questions about an 18" wheel setup, the first truck I think about is 'SactoJim' .. he is a forum member too.

Check out the article on CCT, post #1. This is by far the best 18" wheel setup I'm aware of. I love this truck. I think he might be a tad lower than 2.5/3 drop though.. but it would still look great IMO if you ran this same setup.

Do you know which rear end housing you have in your truck? There were two different housings available in these trucks. 67-69 were 1.5" more narrow than (late) 70-72 trucks. What I'm saying is if you use these same backspacing specs just make sure you have the same rear end housing he does or the backspacing will be way off. I'm not sure which housing he has...

Re: Ideal backspacing?

I run a 15x12 with 6.5 bs on narrow rear and it tucks perfect so a quick calculation tells me that a 8 wide with 3.25 bs would perfectly tuck on yours less bs would be out to far. So the real question is the front i bet you need at least 4 bs on front
