Pontiac "C-10"

What the heck am I looking at here? Saw this the other day while out to dinner. Can not find any info on it. Did this guy just make his C10 look like a Pontiac?

No, Pontiac didn't make c10's. Nice truck and neat gimmick -I guess.

Re: Pontiac "C-10"

The more I look at the pictures..... I kinda like it! He did it up classy. At least he omitted the Bird on the hood.

It's not for me, but I like it. I would have left off the grill inserts and just put an Arrow Head in the center.

Ram Air IV or 455 SD, perhaps? I'm a Pontiac guy, but I'm not sure if I like the Poncho treatment on a C-10 - but hey - it could have a chopped top or a 88-98 bed on it, so it could definitely be worse!

. . . .

I thought it might be a "Canadian" version, but I can't find any information about them.

There were some "different looking" cars made by Holden in Australia too.

This 1966 Canadian "Nova" Acadian Canso of which only 83 were ever made, is a good example of models made in different countries.

Re: Pontiac "C-10"

Pretty cool. I like everything about it except, personally, the crossed up years don't fit my taste. I actually have a similar idea I've considered for my '67 GMC project, but more mechanical than appearance and more era-correct. It all started with the M22 I have for it from a '65 GTO. I figure the GMCs and Pontiacs were sold together, for the most part. Since almost all '67s had 6s,the vibe would be a truck done by a Pontiac wrench who would have a good connection to deals on cast-off Pontiac (warrantied) mechanicals, the ability to easily rebuild, and easy access to parts with a healthy discount. I did work for a guy that I could get a '65 389/3spd Bonnie from for the taking. See where I'm going? My budget is tight these days and I already have a built 327 ready for it,so I dunno. But,I do have a '65 GTO steering wheel, bucket seats, vacuum gauge in pod,and hubcaps!!

In Canada the GMCs had few differences, but the only cosmetic thing was the fender badges. Here's the only Pontiac pickup I know of,other than Utes:

I was wondering if Pontiac sold trucks in Canada too, and was going to google it.

Re: Pontiac "C-10"

Since we also have 7 of the 2nd gen, Trans Ams, I like it. Somebody took their engine swap VERY seriously. I thought it was pretty nicely done, sort of a "what if" truck. Plus, it combines 2 of my favorite vehicles.

Now I'm getting ideas about all these extra C10 and Trans Am parts I have around....

Re: Pontiac "C-10"

I kinda like it. It would be better if it was a GMC, since GMC has always had a close association with Pontiac. They used Pontiac V8 engine in their trucks from 1955 to 1959.

I grabbed pictures of his El Cabra years ago off of www.socalcarculture.com and always loved that thing. That's cool you saw it up close and talked to the guy.

That's how I feel. I'm thinking the GMC grille has the divide, same as Pontiac and with the dual headlights the Firebird grille inserts might have fit or could have been made to fit. The Pontiac arrowhead could have been in the center bar and if they used a 71/72 the black accents (or whole grille) could be painted body color

Here's another nice custom-built El Cabra:

That would be really cool, Tim! I've always connected GMC and Pontiac as well. If you lived closer, I'd give you a great deal on a Pontiac 400 with '65 #76 heads and factory 4 barrel AFB intake, if you wanted it, to make the swap even closer. GMC's came with Pontiac V8's until the V6's were introduced in 1960, and Pontiac engines are excellent truck engines with their insane torque. You could run some pontiac twin exhaust splitters to add a little more Poncho to it.

The Pontiac poverty caps are some of the best looking dog dishes there are out there, and would look awesome on a set of 8" steelies with a 4/6 drop. I'm riding around with a set of those on my '67 GTO right while I'm working on it.

Yep,the tailpipes would be the icing on the cake, run like stacks, right? Oh no,now you went and planted that seed. Alabama ain't that far! I was thinking on running down and buying Josh's '67 bed he was selling a couple weeks ago, then decided to stay with my woodfloor deal I already have (& have powder coated BBC heat shields I just bought). I have red powder coated 8" 5-lugs the caps will look great on. Considering a set of chrome reverse. The reflection on the rim would look awesome. If I had a car it would be a Pontiac. I had a burgundy w/black vinyl top '65 GTO once upon a time. This truck has a long way to go,so never can tell.

I wonder how a body colored GMC grill would look. It may give it an endura nose look, if you had a GMC grille that was painted or had bad chrome.

If you wanted 17's later, the US Mags Bandit wheels that I going to run on my GTO would look awesome on a truck too!
