Changing seat/visor color

Has anyone changed the color of their vinyl seat or visors? I have a nice seat but someone put in tan seat, tan visors, and tan seatbelts, lol. My interior was originally blue with a blue/white paint job on the outside.

I have the vinyl paint from LMC but I have never painted a seat. I have done a couple sets of door panels and they turned out pretty good. Will the seat hold up with this kind of "paint"? I don't want to spend the money on a seat cover if I can avoid it.

I haven't painted a seat, but I recently did a fair bit in my '67 Impala. Kick panels, pillar covers, dash, roof lining, visors, arm rests, steering wheel.

I used SEM Colour Coat. Turned out fantastic.

I know a couple of people that have used SEM on seats, and they're still going strong a couple of years later. No fade, no wear.

For a proper job, you'll probably want at least 4 cans (aerosol).

I converted my door panels and visors to black, by using vinyl paint. Worked well, and is holding up great. I'd be worried about vinyl paint on a seat though. Your butt will always be in that seat while driving, but you won't necessarily touch your sun visors every ride, or touch the door panels and arm rests the entire time (I guess you could have your arm on the rest the whole time). So, the seat is going to get a lot of wear and use, not to mention sweat.

Because of this, I went with a new seat cover. Suppose you could always try it and if it doesn't work, you can get a cover. Then again, you might be out a few pair of light colored pants by then, and several cans of paint

Make sure you use the SEM vinyl prep before applying the dye.

Yes. And use a good degreaser to clean everything first, like 409 and a microfiber towel

I will try it then and report back. The use is what scared me because of the seat bending and giving so much. I didn't think about the 409 first because I was trying to clean it with the prep solution.
