Re: vin number decoder

If you type 1960-1966 vin decoder into the search you can get all the information you need.

Re: vin number decoder

According to the vin number you posted it will be a 66 not a 65.

1-1/2 ton
4-115 wheel base
6-suburban
6-year
z-fremont (where assembled)

Re: vin number decoder

is there a different decoder for panels/subs vs PU's? If I plug my vin into the one for PU's it tells me I have a 1/2 ton PU but I have a 1 ton panel?

wonder if your tag got changed out? does it match the # on the frame?

they are pretty straightforward to decipher, and there is not a different set of #'s for subs and panels, they read just like the truck vin, and the 4th digit will show if it is a sub or panel, or truck...
check out the thread "where is my 60-66 vin number" for more info- there should be a link in the faq.

the new 66's were available in the fall of 65, and 8k is a lower production #, so yours might have been sold and titled in 65 eventhough it was a 66... does it have the brown dash, and different steering wheel?

actually mine doesnt have one on the body, just the one on the frame. Had to take it to the DMV Ref to have a VIN search and verification done and they managed to find the one on the frame (after a bit of cleaning and sanding rust and crud)

Is it possible to put a 1 ton (10 foot cargo area) panel body onto a long wheel base c10 PU frame? Maybe the frame got swapped somewhere in the past?

0C154L111572 Now if I read that right it's 1960 2wd 1/2 ton long wheelbase PU Los Angles Plant serial 111572
