Re: reverse makes a loud bang
Yeppers, differential will do it. My truck is full-time 4wd, and it's my front diff that goes "clunk" when shifting into reverse.
I haven't torn into mine yet. Of all the things that could possibly be wrong in there (worn/broken teeth on the ring or pinion, bad spider gears, ect ect) is there any culprit that is more likely than others? It's a D44 front, and it's DEFINITELY clunking in the front diff. It's not a U-joint.
