Look what I found hidden in my truck...

So, yesterday after hockey practice I went out to the barn to fool around with the old 51 for awhile. I stripped the dash and then started fill in some of the holes on the firewall. I took off the 4" round cover plate off the passenger side firewall and look at what I found!

and this is how far I got till I was interrupted by cold beers! Too cool eh? Anybody else find something hidden in your rides?

Re: Look what I found hidden in my truck...

when i first got my 57 i kept hearing a ratteling in the back - after extensive searching -it seems that the p o . had dropped a chisel down the steak pocket .after a bunch of trial and error i finally was able to get it out ,
it was a 1 inch diameter chisel - i still have it and still use it - although it stays in the tool box now .

Re: Look what I found hidden in my truck...

I started to tear mine apart and found that someone soldered the metal rings from orange juice concentrate cans to make the defrost duct work. It’s kind of cool, so I haven’t removed it yet.

Started cleaning out the cab, found my grandfathers cane pole and his rod and real. I bet they have been under the seat for 30 plus years.

Re: Look what I found hidden in my truck...

I found 2 Rainier pop top beer cans stuffed into the door panels (driver's side, of course) and an old tin cigar case in a cab corner. Also found an uncut original style key blank somewhere in the pile that accumulated under the seat.

Just snapped some pics. On second thought, the key looks like it was some kind of pick pocket's tool, or perhaps a locksmith's.

Inside of the cigar case

Well maybe if you helped her take the wrinkles out it in the house, she would let you go out to the shop and take some wrinkles out!

Re: Look what I found hidden in my truck...

I was pulling down old scraps of headliner and found a dirty plastic spoon in the roof above the door. Why it was there I'll never know. It was the long handled plastic one you get at dairy queen. The truck hadn't moved in 30 years so it had been there for a while. Eww.

Thanks for asking.

Still tore down after the radiator blew up.
Original is still supposed to be repaired, but I ordered the Champion 3-core and it should be here this week.
Then, I can drive 30-miles to the hot rod shop for an estimate.

Even the insurance adjuster called today, asking "whut's up".

Re: Look what I found hidden in my truck...

Found a rusty old knife when I cut out the cab corner, suprised me as I had reached down there prior do cutting them out to see if anything was there, guess I missed it! Also found a baseball bat behind the seat and some aviators under the seat.

Re: Look what I found hidden in my truck...

When I removed my seat and gas tank I was hoping to find some change dated 1949 but no good. All I found was a feeler gauge, funnel, some new taillight bulbs and a mostly complete skeletal lizard which I kept.

Re: Look what I found hidden in my truck...

I didn't find anything interesting in my '48, but in my old Dodge Duster I did. When I replaced the rusted 1/4 panel, I found a hatchet that someone had bondoed in as a filler piece rather than using metal.
