My new 1977 C25

Ok well, "new too me" is a little bit more accurate :-)

Hello all, this is my first post so please forgive any newbie tendencies...I will be the first to claim that I dont know alot about car, but im trying to learn!

I jut picked up a 1977 long bed C25 with a 454 in it from a friend. I am trying to find out information about the engine, but have no idea where to look. I know this was a "camper special" type of rig and it has an extremely low geared tranny L-1-2-3 and a 4:11 rear end.

I am basically looking to make a nice street ride stop-light to stop-light kinda thing. I'm no too concerned about fuel consumption right now (don't tell the wife).

Engine appears to be stock. no name carburetor (assuming stock). Only thing that I have done is taken off the stock air cleaner and added a 14" round Eldebrock filter.

So, like I said im looking for info on what kind of HP the stock engine has and if Carb, Cam and/or intake upgrades are worth the money.

Thanks in advance!

Full length headers, dual exhaust, Edelbrock performer intake and a matching cam. Probably pick up around 50hp.

And here are the factory numbers. Looks like 240hp.

Re: My new 1977 C25

Thats very cool thanks!

I have dual exhaust right now, but I have an exhaust leak at the manifold and its going to dual glass-pack's. Its really loud right now to say the least. On Monday I am getting it replaced with 2.5 inch steel and dual Flowmasters. Should sound pretty good after that. I am just just getting the manifolds re-surfaced right now.

What Edelbrock intake would go with that engine? Also, as far as cams go, how do I find out wha it already has in it to get a better one?

I know its just more questions lol

Thanks!
