Re: My 63 Project

According to the guy that I talked too, he thinks that the piston may not be in all the way. It apparently takes a special tool to turn it back in. So I will take it apart and see if that is the case. The other alternative is to get thinner pads.

Re: My 63 Project

There should be a hole just above the oil filter where the stud goes in.
This will be the stud: http://www.classicparts.com/1963-84-.../#.U5chNhNOWUl

Re: My 63 Project

Will I need to get a V8 bell crank or can I use the I6 that I currently have?

And did you have to tap that hole or was it already set up for the stud to screw into??

Re: My 63 Project

That's not my block, just an archived pic I had. Some have the provision and some have to be tapped though. If it needs to be tapped, there should be a flat place for it on the block.

Re: My 63 Project

Well yes, maybe.....
When I dropped my engine in, the mounting spot for the pivot ball on the block was nowhere near where the throwout arm needed it to be.
I had to make this small adaptation to get mine to work:

This was all on page 24 of my build if you need to take a look at it....

Re: My 63 Project

So the weight of the motor has squatted the front end down pretty low. I may have to go back to full springs.

Re: My 63 Project

So very typical, when you have the time, no money, when you have the money, no time.

On top of that, it's just been so dang hot to work. But, I got some jewelry in.

Re: My 63 Project

Are the headlight bezels steel or aluminum? They cleaned up nicely!!!

Vent assemblies look great also. Who did you order them from?

The Beauty rings are steel I think... they don't seem to be soft enough for aluminum...

The vent windows came from Tuckers Classic Parts here in Henderson.

Re: My 63 Project

The grill was in great shape, but just not nice enought to polish and chrome. So primer and I will deal with that later after its running and ready for paint.

The tank is out of a blazer... I got it new from Brothers Trucks in Corona California. But there are several companies that make that same tank.
