Well I hope I am helping other out. Maybe my trials and errors will help others out. Sometimes being a good boy pays off at Christmas. That would be a great Christmas gift for your 383.

Going back about the relay. It's because I am using a in tank pump. So the orange wire that is on the wiring harness on the FiTech will be my trigger wire that will run to the Aeromotive fuel pump relay. Now if I would have got the FiTech FCC I wouldn't need any of that. But I like making things hard lol. When I was talking with the mechanic at FiTech he asked me what I was doing for fuel. Told him in tank pump cause I thought the FCC was ugly lol. I am happy I got to speak with a guy who has installed these on different vehicles. Hell you will never know unless you ask. And trust me I have no issue calling and asking and *****ing when I have spent $1500. In my other posts about the timing control I was just repeating what a tech office guy told me. But the mechanic set me straight lol. And I am happy he did. Plus guys he has built a few C10's. Lol. Makes me feel better about giving them my money. And they are easy to talk with.

All good info, you're hooking it up that way I want to.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Well I just went ahead and installed the temp sensor in the front of intake. It worked for my temp gauge so figured it would work for the FiTech. Cause as far as I know I am getting the DD gauge for Christmas and will put that in the head. I don't have the wires all tied up and tucked yet doing that last making sure I don't mess up anything.

Also for you who are wanting to use the FiTech for timing control here is the connector that plugs in. It is ran off the back with a connector already installed.

So my plan is to mount the fuel pump relay below my fan relay I have mounted on the side of the battery tray.

I am coming to this thread late so I apologize for asking a question about such an old post. (450) Did the mechanic say why you need a relay for an in tank pump and not for the "Fuel Command Center". I don't see the difference. You are running a fuel pump either way. The load should be the same. Also, does the relay work OK with the PWM signal from the ECU? The reason I am curious is that I am getting ready to install one on a friends 69 Camaro. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. I have another friend who put one on a Bronco and he had a problem with it burning out one of the pins in the power connector. I think it is the one that runs the fuel pump.

By the way, nice truck.

We never talked about the FCC cause I am not using that. The reason I used the relay which you would think would apply to the FCC cause it has a 340lph pump in it is...

Using the relay, will reduce the current going through the 6
pin connector on the system. Also the pump would always have the voltage it needs.
The PWM part is just a voltage reduction on the signal coming from the ECU, so as
long as it's enough to turn the relay on, the relay will supply full voltage
to the pump.

The PWM by the time it gets through the relay,
and the output has a super-fast PWM frequency that shows up as a constant
voltage by the time it gets out of the ECU. The ECU is just turning the
relay ON with this signal, and the pump is getting full
voltage.

On the ECU, the PWM only works when at low throttle and low RPM, and puts
out about 10 volts. Above that, it switches over to the internal relay, and
gets direct battery voltage and no more PWM. It's just a pump quieting
scheme, and not a pressure control thing.

Now everyone knows how the PWM on the FiTech works lol.

I run the relay and it is not causing a issue and it is staying.

And thanks I appreciate that. I like my truck also.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Ray here.
At the risk of drifting this tread more.
The computer guy at Fitech has been on holiday for a week or two.
Till Monday or so.
So help on software has been limited at best..
My problem is down loading the KlineDriver_AAFF_FFAA folder.
Really its just finding it...... (this lets the two talk)

Ray.

The timing control really is nice if you can do it.
Not opening the hood to adj. fuel or timing on that 90+deg.day after getting a tank of crap fuel while sporting your best girl..Priceless.....

I'm getting excited to have you fire this thing up with the new system and it isn't even my truck. Looking great so far.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Honestly so far the hardest thing was the o2 sensor. Unbolting collectors dropping the exhaust down and squeezing under the truck. Now he is a little tip. So the o2 ideal mounting is 2-4" from collector. So I took my tape measure and used a sharpie and made a mark at 2" and at 4". Well the sharpie is almost the same length as the o2 so I stuck the sharpie on the pipe and tested mounting angles. When I found the angle I wanted between the 2-4" marks I marked it. Worked perfect. Sometimes the sun shines on a dogs ass lol. But I did this while the exhaust was still connected all up so I would know how it would sit all bolted up.

We talked about tach signal. I found this to be interesting. Now has me wondering about tapping the tach signal in the future.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how it controls timing in a mechanical distributor.

Re: 1976 Square "Simple Green"

Well you know how dirt and grime get in every little orfice and crack in a vehicle. Got me thinking about my vent on my fuel pump. So I bough a diff/tranny case vent. So for you who do not know what it is or looks like the pic below will help. Vents pressure and keeps crap out of places it shouldn't be. Should work really good.
