1963 Window Tickets

These were attached to the glass during shipping. RPO codes and descriptions are interesting to see.
1963 was the first year for NEW codes.

Previously it was 3 numbers and one or two letters, example 819A or 315AA.
Then in 63 they became a letter first, followed by two numbers, example U60, the one or two letters following these numbers indicated what parts were to be used with a particular engine/ transmission/ or trim code, I think, example M20T & U60TH .
In 1964 there were two letters following the two numbers for every RPO code, no longer a single letter.

The 4 before all the codes remains a mystery to me.

A spread sheet would help to determine this hypothesis, I did some by hand and started to see a pattern developing towards this theory.

Tire and wheel RPO's were generally not printed as the vast mix was extensive with different sizes and manufactures. So I've read.

Interestingly, not all complete serial numbers were stamped, typed or written on these tickets.

They measure 6 1/4" wide by 7" tall when the non serrated continuous feed sides are retained of copy 5..
They are serrated top and bottom on all.
They are serated on the left on copies1. 2. 3. 4. . This dealer choose to cut the continuous sides off on most of these.
Five copies were printed at the same time, with carbon paper between each layer.

1. BODY TICKET (thin yellow tinged rice paper with 1/2 inch wide heavy duty masking paper type tape, top and bottom applied from the back)

3. SALES DEPARTMENT AND GATEMAN'S PASS no masking tape attached.

4. Don't know

5. DEALERS COPY Last copy as the one complete card I have ( see below ), has evidence of carbon and yellow rice paper applied to the left hand side . Thick white/tan almost cardstock type paper. No masking tape applied.

SOME of the 3. & 5. tickets have punched out sections where heavy duty springs and transmissions were optioned. Janesville plant used E and Norwood used X

The numbers in the upper right hand corner on all copies are Red as well as the numerated descriptions at the bottom.

On the second card below, last option, TRUCK DEMONSTRATOR DECAL, refers to the Check the Champ Promotion for 1963. ( I want that decal! )

If I knew a graphic artist, I'd have them blank out one of the Body Tickets and print up all the RPO's for my truck and stick it to the glass, because I'm me, and I have to deal with me everyday!
