I wish I knew what the color code is, but the previous owner doesn't know. There are 2 very small rust bubbles on the entire truck that I would like to sandblast and repaint. In order to blend these spots back in, I really need to know the exact color. Maybe I should just bring it to a high end body shop and let them give it a try?

Another option is to take something removable (like a cowl extension) to your local auto paint supply store. They can scan and match the paint, and either provide liquid paint or put it in spray cans.

It only gets really expensive with dealing with reds, because they often have to apply the paint to something and let it dry before telling if it's a "perfect" color match. This can take several attempts because red fades so significantly, which adds to the cost.

Yes, I have thought of that but I'm not real sure how close they can actually get with one of those paint scanners.

They should be able to get an exact match. The local PPG dealer here does exceptionally well with their scanner.

That would be great if they could nail the color. That would make it much easier to blend in the repaired spots.
