I was pulling parts from a decent 89 Burb this weekend and I grabbed the near perfect dash bezel and noticed the newer 1.5 din stereo and thought about grabbing it but wasnt sure if it would fit in my 86 dash. Mine is already cut for the newer din cd players so cutting it more wouldnt really bother me but i was curious if it will fit and bolt up and be able to be covered up by a stock 89 bezel? Anyone have any pics?

It should fit.

I would imagine like anything else it would fit, but you're going to have to do some decent cutting and fab work to get it there correctly. Those 1.5 DIN stereos used 3 bolts around the perimeter to mount, IIRC. You'd have to get those holes accurately placed, use the right clips, and get the whole cut to the right dimensions.

If I were you, I would go parts crawling for one of the 1.5 DIN CD players out of the 90s GM vehicles (trucks should use the same or very similar mounting system as the 89). You can also get them remanned off of eBay with aux ports installed. That's what I did on my GTA. Turned out pretty sweet.

I did the same thing on my 84. I had to do some cutting with a body saw and I used some radio mounting kit for a dodge. Not sure of the kit it was from, might be able to use the correct one for the newer style bezel. I work at a car audio shop, so I figured that I would just fab up one with spare parts in the shop. I can get some finished pictures if you want.

Yes on the pics please. I have the bezel for it so i shouldnt have to cut that just the hole in the dash which is half done cause of the PO already. LOL
