87 front clip on a 74 cab help?
Hey guys I am putting a clean 87 front clip on a 1974 4X4 truck. I remember a post that I can't find about this modification. I know the front frame horns have to be cot and I will need 87 wiper arms and I would need to modify the hood springs. Any help would be great pics would be super. thanks Rick

Re: 87 front clip on a 74 cab help?
I am in the process of doing a similar swap. I have cut my cowl for the hinges but waiting on my buddy with the welder to help me finish. I have a picture of what I have done but I dont know how helpful it will be.

Re: 87 front clip on a 74 cab help?
As I said in my earlier post, this was just my initial cut. I am waiting on my buddy to come weld the piece of plate I need to bolt the hinges to. After that I may have to cut more once I get the front clip back on and start messing with hood adjustment.

Re: 87 front clip on a 74 cab help?
Theres a writeup somewhere on the 'net. It has dimensions for the hinge cuts and body mount moves and really good pictures. I'll see if I can find it again.
Here is one. Not the one I was thinking of though... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=536137&page=2 Last edited by bdiamond; 01-21-2014 at 09:02 PM. |

Here is a link to the magazine article that helped me. I ended up buying an issue of it off Ebay.
