Talking Hood Scoops on C10s?

I have an old late 60s gen hood scoop (similar to an early GT) that I was toying with placing on my '66 C10 setpside, but once I started looking for examples on the web, I quickly realized that there are no examples to be found!

What gives? Has no one ever slapped a scoop on to a 60s C10? I find that hard to beleive.

Am I wrong or just a bad "googler"?

He said he used the scoop off a '68 Camaro to make his. I thought it turned out preety nice.

Re: Hood Scoops on C10s?

One of the guys on the forum, did some amazing metal work and used some cuts to raise the center section out of the hood to make his. Best one I've ever seen. As soon as I can find the picture, I'll post it.

Re: Hood Scoops on C10s?

Here are a couple photos of the hood scoops I build on my 66 c10. They are all out of the original hood with the use of a cutoff wheel, some 1/8 welding rod and a couple pieces of hardware store wire mesh.

Re: Hood Scoops on C10s?

I saw this one last year in a car show parking lot. No idea what the scoops came from:

If I were going to add a scoop it would be the Hilborn style in the avatar.

I am normally not a big fan of "modern looking" type scoops on classics but this was very well done.

Good job on blending them in.

Re: Hood Scoops on C10s?

All our 60-66 trucks come from the factory with air intake holes "air scoops" built into the front of all the hoods in one form or another, why add more??

Thanks chevy_mike it was a lot of work but I was happy with the way they turned out. A lot of people ask are those 68 firebird or something like that and I just smile and say nope those are all original sheetmetal.

Re: Hood Scoops on C10s?

I really like the Corvette scoop.
I already have the scoop part I just need to figure out how to make the curved center spear.
