Bed question - Need help!

My bed on my 60 K-20 is really rough and I found a 65 bed for sale. My question is will it fit the same or do I need to modify the mounting? From the pics I've seen of the 65, it looks like the mounting bolts are different. Will I have to weld in a new mounting brackets? I'm confused. Any info is appreciated.

Re: Bed question - Need help!

The bed rails determine the mount, no differance from the 60 to 66 except the last two bed rails in width, second to the last just change bolt positions, last mount under the tail gate you have one of two options, buy the new rail from Mar-k or LMC and cut the old rail loose from the ends ( both sides under the tail gate) and reweld the new rail back in on the sides or drill out the spot welds on the old rear mount bosses with a 1/8 th drill and reposistion them to fit the 60 frame which is wider by about four inches and weld the bolt bosses back in..

I think I follow you. The 65 bed is complete w/wood and tailgate so I thought I could remove my bed and put the 65 in but sounds like I have to modify the last rail, correct?

Yes very last bed sill under tail gate, has two bed to frame bolt bosses, with 9 small spot welds each, just drill and reweld to new positions, second bed sill will just require you to move bolts to wider posistion...

Thanks! That helps a lot. The 65 bed is in really good condition compared to mine.
