First drive....
Well....
For a little while it seemed like it'd never happen.she wasn't much to look at when I saw her in the old owners yard , but I saw the potential. I planned on running the original motor/trans. Found out cylinders were damaged so I had to make a change.shocking an old car/truck going overbudget Obviously , there's still some minor stuff to iron out , and I'm getting exhaust done tomorrow. I must say the ECE 4.5/6 drop, 5 lug conversion and front power disc brake setup are top notch. Its running an aftermarket gm crate 350 with 700r4, all new accessories, radiator, gas tank, new front/rear bumpers. Last edited by draggin49; 02-01-2014 at 12:39 AM. |

Re: First drive....
Thanks ybnorml, I really dig your 68!
If I had more budget I wanted to do porterbuilt front/rear on this one.just wasn't doable for me. But next truck I think I will. Looking to do a late 40s early 50s next. Dan42, your truck is great too. The way you did the bed ties in with the truck really well. Funny, I haven't been up there in a bit, but I usually play a few softball tournies during the year in santa maria at hagerman sports complex across from the airport. Its a nice drive up the coast. The beauty of these Chevy trucks is they can look great painted, with patina, and with various exterior touches. Haha I know the F-word isn't probably liked on here but my next project that I'm gonna do is a 1932 ford roadster. Just always wanted one. I have a chopped airbagged 1949 ford shoebox sedan as well.I'm a fan of hot rods and customs so I kinda want one of each. I do have something the bowtie crew would dig, its a 1955 chevy 150 sedan, building a straight axle traditional styled gasser out of it |

Post your other vehicles up in the "Alternate Tinkerings" forum. There are a lot of street machines and hot rods in there. A friend of mine just finished up a '55 gasser style car. I like 'em.... LockDoc

Re: First drive....
Great job! Sure made a big difference from what it was. Can I ask how much you picked the truck up for? Looked really clean, around here you buy rust.

Re: First drive....
Its funny, I grew up with this truck across the street.belonged to my brothers godfather. It had a camper shell back then, was his work truck. He moved away and I believe drove it to his new home around 1991-1992 and she sat ever since till I purchased her in april 2013.
