transmission cross member differences?

What is the difference between the transmission cross members in an Auto (th350) vs. manual (sm465) truck? Or are they the same? Referring to a 72 4wd Blazer.
thanks.

Re: transmission cross member differences?

The crossmembers should all be the same on a 4x4. The crossmember attaches to the transfer case not the tranny so it shouldn't matter which tranny is being used.

Re: transmission cross member differences?

My guess is no since one attaches to the trans and the other attaches to the tcase, but i have never owned a 2wd.

X2 what he said, but there is a second crossmember, to the rear of the first that supports the skid plate on blazers/jimmys

Re: transmission cross member differences?

Thanks everyone. You confirmed what I had thought that they were all the same. I was getting confused when I was reading some 2wd threads. Should have realized.
