Re: Anyone cut 8 inches off the end of the bed without the 12 in the middle?
Friends don't let friends bob their trucks.
That's like "marrying your cousin" kind of wrong.

Can't say I'm surprised the long bed purist hate it

If you really want to shorten something, find a Longhorn and shorten the front of the bed and frame area underneath it exactly 6 inches.

Here's a pic of a Ford Camper Special mentioned earlier.

Buy a ford bronco or a chevy blazer. If you think any 67-72 gm needs to be cut up to look good, then you never really appreciated them in the first place.

Re: Anyone cut 8 inches off the end of the bed without the 12 in the middle?
It has nothing to do with being a purist, and no comments in this thread appear to be purist related. It has to do with having an eye for proportion. If you had that you wouldn't have needed to start this thread. If you don't care what others think, then just do it. This thread has shown you how others will view your truck after all that work. Like I said, you'd be better off just getting used to the longbed. To add what I left to be assumed, buy a shortbed or convert yours,if you don't like longbeds. I also never suggested that before because you voiced a concern for losing the better ride of a longbed. I like both long and short. I work out of trucks,so the longbed makes sense. You can only get a light duty (1/2t) shortbed. I have a shortbed for fun...and a lottle work. But for looks maybe I can dig a longbed because I always dug long deck cars before the days of the bobbed tailed pony cars

Re: Anyone cut 8 inches off the end of the bed without the 12 in the middle?
Come on guys! No one has ever heard of the short bed longhorn option?
Here's something even more fun that bobbing it! Remove 8" from the middle and 6" from the back and just screw with everyone. I've seen a truck that had that done, and done well, and it was one of those... is that a shortbed? It looks like one... but... ? Yeah, it is. Well, no...

Re: Anyone cut 8 inches off the end of the bed without the 12 in the middle?
Thanks. This thread accomplished what I wanted. I got to see some shortened long beds. I just don't appreciate that last guy telling me I don't appreciate 67-72 trucks because I asked a question about customization? Everyone has a right to their own opinion out of everyone that replied most did not like it. Some did though. Truth be told, if a short bed version of my same truck was being offered right next to it for sale for the same price, I would of bought the short bed with out question, but short beds go for about 5 times the price of a long bed around here. Thanks fellas!
