Depends what spline the np205 is now.If its a 32 spline you can use either a 4x4 or 2wd trans.Look around on http://www.advanceadapters.com/ http://www.northwestfab.com/Adapter-Kits_c_170.html

Re: 5.3L, 4L60E to 205 transfer case 4X4 conversion help
It would be helpful to know what transmission was in front of the 205 previously and what year is the 4L60e. Is it the one that came with the 5.3L?

Re: 5.3L, 4L60E to 205 transfer case 4X4 conversion help
It doesn't matter if it is a 2wd or 4x4 because regardless you are going to have to change out the output shaft in the trans. Also, it doesn't matter what spline 205 you have because you can get the correct coupler from the new trans output shaft to your 205. My 205 is a 10 spline and I mated it to a 4l60e. Obviously a 32 spline 205 is going to be the strongest.

Re: 5.3L, 4L60E to 205 transfer case 4X4 conversion help
Links for reference material... I have purchased from both companies and would recomend both...
http://www.northwestfab.com/Transfer...afts_c_74.html http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/transfercaseparts.htm 2WD 4L60e output shaft is longer then 4wd and will probably need to be swapped... another option for a custom coupler would be Trail Tech Fab... check out the link below... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=493169 |

You would have to make a mount/crossmember to hold the t case and have 3 drive shafts made and rig up shifter linkage or go cable shifter.

Going with a divorced NP205 would be cool. It would improve your front driveshaft angle for sure.
What is it going into?

72 c20 long bed conversion truck that we are now going to put a 12v 5spd in which having the divorced would let me be able to put a 2wd transmission in it vs. hunting for a 4wheel drive transmission

The divorced case can be located directly at the midpoint between the axles on a long bed letting you use a one piece rear driveshaft and improving the u joint operating angles on the front driveshaft.
