Question What is this thing called?

Here's the question of the day;

What is this thing called? Where can I get more?

This came out of a 72 Bucket seat and is used to pull the fabric cover down to conform to the shape of the foam. They are a little over two inches long and are made of a spring steel. I stopped by a couple of upholstery shop nearby and they don't have them or know their name. They suggested tying the cover down with string, but I'd prefer using this clip as it was designed. I only need a dozen or so and don't have any idea where to get them. Anyone know what they are or where I can get some? Thanks

Larry

I wonder if a bench seat uses them also. I don't have my trucks here or I would look for you.

I looked through the LMC catalog and they do have kits, but I don't think they include these. The hog rings are only about 3/4" wide and more oval shaped until closed.

Those aren't hog rings. Those are listing wires. Here's a link http://www.interiorsbyshannon.com/leather.htm They can be easily found in different lengths so you can duplicate the originals and make some up yourself. Hogrings are a "C" shaped piece of steel with sharp points. Use them to attach the foam to the listing wires or seat covers. Get a good pair of hogring pliers. Regular pliers don't work worth a damn. The angled kind are best. Check the Mac or Snap On website.

Regular wire bends and doesn't return to it's original straight shape. They are made of spring steel. These help the covers and foam retain their original shape.

Easy to make from some music wire found in hobby stores. Music wire is high carbon "spring steel" and is difficult to bend unless you anneal it. Heat red hot with propane torch and allow to cool slowly, bend to shape and re-harden by heating cherry red again and quench in warm water. Might be worth the .50 cents and a few minutes work for only a dozen of these listing wires.

Wish I had seen this post before I threw all of mine away!!! I got my seats recovered and the upholstery guy used string instead of the original wires like those. I thought they were useless and tossed them ---sorry! Good Luck!

My corvette covers used them, Any good corvette restoration shop sells them.

When I looked for them around here I was told to use a coat hanger and make them. Thats what I did.

I believe these wire clips are unique to the bucket seats where you have seems that need to be pulled down. they need to have give and take so when your big butt plops down, the clips don't bind off or push up to cause problems. Heavy duty cord/string works well but need to be tied down correctly with even tension to get the right affect. You also want to sand/smooth out the heavy wire it attaches to. I've used fishing fly line as it is strong, braded and resilient. Mono or spider wire line will not work.
Even using the correct clips, you need to have different lengths to ensure correct tension on the cover.
